Rome at Night

Today's post will be light on history, mostly because you have already heard it. Instead, I'll show you pictures of some of Rome's famous sights at night, when they are lit up.

Rome at night is special. It's beautiful, of course, but if you have more pragmatic concerns, I should tell you that I felt very safe walking around. In fact, the risk of pick-pocketing seemed less at night when there were fewer people about. But the streets were never deserted. There were always people coming and going, but in a leisurely way. It's that slower European pace, I guess. And the air is full of delicious smells from all the restaurants.

So enjoy Rome at night!
